Springfield Bertha Park village to host first Wee Run Events trail run
1st February 2023
Wee Run Events has announced a new trail run route at Bertha Park Village, Perth in association with home builders, Springfield Properties.
Taking place 26th February, the fully marked and marshalled trail route will take participants around Bertha Loch and along Almondbank before finishing at Bertha Park green. Open to all abilities with a 5k or 10k option, the trail can be walked, jogged or ran.
With entries now open, the family run business is encouraging walkers and runners alike to take part in Bertha Parks first ever trail run.
Those who complete the course will receive a medal donated by Springfield. The medals are made by The Workshop in Aberfeldy, a social enterprise founded in 2014 that offers young people who may be faced with barriers into employment, opportunities to gain practical skills.
Tasty treats will also be available at the finishing line for participants and spectators from local business Starfish Cakes & Bakes.
Bertha Park resident and Wee Run Events Race Director, Nic Crossley, has been fundamental at arranging the event. She said:
“Wee Run Events have a number of upcoming events across Scotland and we’re really excited to introduce a trail run to Bertha Park. It’s a new village and already has a thriving community with walking groups, a bootcamp in the warmer weather and regular community events which Springfield support.
“Given the community spirit, and walking routes to scenic spots like Bertha Loch right on our doorstep, we thought a trail run would be a great way to bring people together. We’ve selected a route that would be achievable for runners and walkers through the woods with gentle hills and of course, beautiful wintery scenery.”
The trail run is £15 to enter with registration now open. Nic encourages those interested to do so soon as spaces are limited. She said:
“As this is the first year, we wanted to see what appetite we would get from local runners and walkers. There are only 100 spaces available at the Bertha Park Trail Run with over 80 people already signed up which is brilliant.”
