Entries open for Springfield Rattray Blair Half Marathon
20th March 2024
The highly popular Springfield Rattray Blair Half Marathon is set to return with entries now open, and this year, for the first time, there will also be an option for a 10k.
Organised by avid runner and local man, Peter Ritchie, this will be the fifth year of the event set to take place Sunday 2nd June. Springfield Properties, who are selling a selection of high quality and energy efficient homes in the area, including bungalows, are once again supporting the event.
The route is thought to be one of the most scenic half marathon routes in Scotland, starting and finishing near Rattray Primary School and Springfield’s Kinloch Gardens development, while passing by open fields and the River Ericht and this year, will include an equally scenic 10k route.
Entries are now open for the event, which typically attracts 200 runners, and 100 walkers. Last year the event raised an impressive £3,500 for charity, bringing the total raised over five years to an impressive £18,000. This year, the profits will be donated to Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Alexis Rose Fund in aid of Meningitis Now.
Open to all ages and abilities, there are a number of prizes available for top runners and for those walking.

“It’s great to host the Rattray Blair Half Marathon once again and we’re really excited this year to offer a 10k to encourage as many walkers, joggers and runners along. Not only is it a great way to support local charities, it is also a brilliant event to bring like-minded members of the community together for a fun day.
“We’re hoping to beat last year’s sum of £3,500 raised for charity and have 50 runners and walkers signed up to the 10K already, with more set to take on the half marathon so far.
“As always, we wouldn’t be able to deliver this event without the support and donations from local businesses. We’re especially grateful to house builders Springfield Properties who have consistently supported the event since we started in 2018.”
Entries for the 10k is £22 and £27 for the half marathon, discounts are available for those affiliated to Scottish Athletics and all entries must be submitted by 25th May. Those taking part on the day will each receive a t-shirt, a bespoke medal and goody bag.
