Three consecutive wins for teen golfer, Summer Elliott
1st October 2024
Inverness amateur golfer, Summer Elliott, sponsored by home builders Springfield Properties, has secured the win for three significant competitions in the last eight days.
The teen golfer started her winning streak at the Mixed Nairnshire County Championships. Playing members of both Nairn Dunbar and Nairn Golf Club, Summer scored 2 under par and is the first female to have ever won the competition since it was founded 90 years ago.
She then travelled to Musselburgh Golf Club to compete in the Loretto Junior Tour. Played over three rounds, Summer broke the club record on the first day with 9 under par finishing an incredible 22 under after the third round.
At the weekend, Summer secured her third consecutive win at the Junior Tour at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club scoring 74, 75 and 73. She said:
“The last eight days have been really great and I’ve managed to play really good golf. I feel honoured to be the first female to win the Nairn County Championships, and it was great to have a win at Nairn Dunbar as I had practiced there a lot in the winter. Shooting 22 under par at Musselburgh at the Loretto Junior Tour felt amazing and breaking a course record is always one of the best feelings. At the Junior Tour at the beautiful Fortrose Golf Club the sloped greens were tricky, and I managed to control my putts well. That’s the best I have played at Fortrose and I was pleased to have won by 2 shots ahead of Erin Huskie from Stirling.
“I’m excited to have got into the Women’s Scottish Golf Squad for the winter training and I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully will get to play a lot of golf in the winter months and continue my fitness work with SportsScotland and the Institute of Sport at UHI.”
