Springfield Properties has announced sponsorship of amateur Highland golfer, Calum Scott to support him to reach his goal of becoming a championship player.

The partnership will see the award-winning housebuilder back Calum in his golfing career for the next three years, until September 2025.

Local man Calum, age 18, has been playing golf for the past 12 years and is currently ranked 106th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Originally from Nairn, Calum moved to the United States in 2021 to undertake a golf scholarship at Texas Tech University where he is majoring in Sports Management.

The sporting star returned to Scotland over the summer to compete in a number of tournaments, including the Hero Open 2022 where he was one of just five amateurs invited to take part.

Forming part of the DP World Tour and hosted at Fairmont St Andrews from 28-31 July, the Hero Open 2022 was Calum’s first experience of competing at a professional level.

Calum placed 113th in the tournament finishing 2 under par, achieving 9 birdies and came 9th place in driving distance statistics.

Springfield Properties’ sponsorship of Calum includes funding for competitions, clothing and travel.

Calum said: “It was a real privilege to return back to Scotland, the home of golf, to play my first professional competition. The Hero Open 2022 was a fantastic experience and provided me with my first taste of playing at this level. I’m grateful to Springfield Properties for their ongoing support, both on and off the pitch.”

Innes Smith, CEO at Springfield Properties, said:

“A big part of the Springfield ethos is giving back, and we pride ourselves on supporting young people as they work to achieve their goals.

“Having followed Calum’s journey over the past few years, we were proud to watch him play in the Hero Open 2022. We look forward to supporting Calum’s career for years to come, as he develops and hones his talent.”
